What Do We Do?

We are an organization that is committed to strengthening the community at large by focusing on enhancing human rights.

Our Work Strategy

Tukuy Pacha implements the Community-Based Rehabilitation – Inclusive Development strategy, proposed by the World Health Organization since the 1980s. We place greater emphasis on the components of empowerment and health.

Empowerment

Training workshops are held in the municipalities in order to provide technical support to UMADIS (Unidad Municipal de Atención a la Discapacidad), to strengthen the effective control of the public administration, and to help carry out political advocacy alongside organizations that work to aid people with Disabilities (OPCD).

We maintain ties with social organizations that support people with disabilities and help to institutionally strengthen these organizations by reviewing their statutes, budgets, and manifestos.

Prevention and Rehabilitation

Tukuy Pacha supports the rehabilitation and independence in the daily life of those whose cases are considered serious and very severe through direct and routine care with a professional physical therapist.

Home visits routinely happen with families and people with disabilities throughout the municipalities of Tiquipaya, Colcapirhua, San Benito, Punata and the Southern Zone of Cochabamba, specifically in the 9th District.

Training workshops are organized for public officials, authorities, and organizations that work with people with disabilities (OPCD). These workshops primarily focus on the prevention of disabilities.

Communication and Education

We produce educational materials aimed at the general public that discuss disability. The materials are distributed through different means such as brochures and posters through UMADIS throughout the municipalities, and by publications on the internet.

We publish our activities on our website and Facebook.

Local, departmental, national, and international news related to issues of disability are published with the intention of expanding the knowledge about disabilities in the general population.
